Doors Aftercare

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Door Maintenance

Aftercare and Maintenance are the keys to keeping your Metallic Epoxy Doors brand new even after a prolonged period. There’s nothing special about keeping it strong and happy.

Metallic Epoxy is known to be a “Wonder Material” by being one of the toughest & durable in the market. It resists chemical attacks, shrugs off high impacts, and is highly heat-resistant. Its stain-proofing and bacteria/mold resistance are legendary, and it’s entirely waterproof.

Yet, as much as we wish otherwise, nothing is perfect. The resilient protective layer will eventually degrade if subjected to inordinately high amounts of damage. Here are a few recommended Metallic Epoxy Doors aftercare tips to prolong its life.

RECOMMENDED TIPS

    Cleaning Methods

You can do this anytime with a clean wet cloth. Microfiber cloths would be highly recommended for this process. After the initial damp wipe down, using another clean & dry Microfiber cloth would be essential in preventing water spots.

You may use any form of household cleaning agent for hygiene purposes during the process.

    Stain Removal Methods

Should you encounter stains. You may use standard detergents available on the market that are recommended for stain removal, such as Magic Clean, Jiff, CIF cleaner, etc. In a scenario of stubborn stains, you may use more potent agents such as 91% or 99% rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, turpentine, or even thinner.

For gloss surfaces, rub it with a clean microfiber cloth and the agents above till the offending substance come off. Soft and medium bristle is recommended for matte surfaces.

Keep Gravel & Dirt at Bay

Gravel and dirt can scratch the surface when dragged across your doors. Prevent that by regularly wiping down your surfaces with a clean microfiber cloth and clearing debris away promptly.

Ensure that your microfiber cloths are regularly maintained to prevent a build-up of dirt and gravel.

    Keep Damages at Bay

Constant knocking by corners of furniture and objects can cause damage to the surface. Have someone available to help with moving furniture or things, if needed.

Additionally, should the need to move furniture and objects in and out of the entrance, ensure that they are fitted with baby bumpers to prevent accidental knocks.

THINGS TO AVOID

    Avoid Scrubbing with Abrasive Materials

Firstly, never use an abrasive scrub like a Scotch-Brite pad, nylon scouring pads, or related cleaning products, as they can scratch your beloved doors. This avoidance is mainly applicable to our gloss finish.

The abrasive action will wear through the topcoat over time and expose the epoxy surface below, causing it to lose a vital layer of protection.

However, soft to medium scrubbing bristles are perfectly fine for our matte surfaces, as they are built for heavier scratch resistance.

    Avoid Any Damages

Secondly, this list involves Metallic Epoxy Door’s impact absorption and scratch resistance. Its virtues in these two areas are far more pronounced than most other materials.

However, we should reiterate its lack of invincibility. Repeated damage from sharp and heavy objects directly on the surface will damage it.

Intentional or unintentional damages should be avoided even if it’s easily repaired. No one should ever have their beloved doors tarnished.

Avoid Over Exposing To Constant High Heat

Metallic Epoxy’s heat resistance is graded to 200°C. It is able to withstand boiling water or even places like saunas with minimal effect. Nevertheless, do not constantly overexpose your doors anywhere near or above the recommended figure.

Do not overexpose your doors with extreme temperatures. Long periods of exposure to high temperatures will cause damage.

Do note that it is heat resistant and not flame or fire-resistant. Therefore, you should ideally keep the flame-throwing to a minimum around the surface. Or anywhere else, for that matter.

    Avoid Using Heavy Industrial Chemicals

Lastly, avoid using heavy industrial chemicals on your Metallic Epoxy Doors. Having said that, you should not be cleaning your interiors with any heavy industrial chemicals in your home or workspace, for that matter.

Frequent exposure to such chemicals will eventually cause damage to the topcoat. Avoid ammonia or any acids like vinegar as they would erode the surface, especially if used repeatedly.

Highly concentrated industrial chemicals are not recommended to remain on the surface. However, should you encounter such a scenario, clean it off promptly with a clean damp cloth.
